Headteacher’s Welcome

Welcome to Huckleberry Therapeutic School.

To be the Headteacher of such a unique and nurturing therapeutic primary school is a real privilege. Huckleberry is a new exciting and enriching learning environment, and it is my aim and commitment to ensure that no child is left behind, rather encourage to develop the confidence to be the greatest they can be.

Having been part of  Wantage community for a majority or indeed most of my life, I have seen the many changes and developments of this once very small town, in term of infrastructure and growth. Our community is very welcoming and the people who make up the community have a positive attitude to who makes up their community and the aspirations they have for further development and prosperity.  I am very proud of being part of such a vibrant community and am delighted to be working with families and partners of this community.

The school is  committed to making a real difference in the lives of the children in our setting. We aim to give our children the very best start to their educational journey, developing lifelong love of learning, ready for independence and the stepping stones to their education.

We aim for every child to be excited by their learning, so that they themselves are motivated to be the best that they can be. Our inspirational, talented and compassionate  team are dedicated  to every child achieving. Working closely with parents and carers, we make sure that pupils are happy and that they are achieving success in all areas of school life within a nurturing approach and within a supportive network of staff and friendships.

Our focus is that every child  will look back and recall their time at Huckleberry as a time of achievement, purpose, kindness with a sense of personal discovery, whilst making friends and positive choices.

Many of our pupils have had a difficult and challenging start to education and as such it is so important to ensure that, as a school we understand, are flexible and compassionate about every child we work with. I can put my hand on my heart and say that we have a happy, warm and nurturing school where our pupils feel happy and safe and are engaged by their educational experiences.

I believe that education is a partnership between home, school and relevant professionals and I hope to strengthen links with you as your child moves through our wonderful school.

If you would like to visit the school, I would welcome you to arrange a visit.

With warm regards,

Ms Parmentier
